Rev. Dr. Danielle buhuro
transforming cpe world with a more diverse voice and less -isms
Rev. Dr. Danielle J. Buhuro is the Founder, Executive Director & ACPE Certified Educator/CPE Supervisor of Sankofa CPE Center, LLC. After working in chaplaincy for several years, Rev. Dr. Buhuro answered God’s calling to teach and contribute a more just, diverse voice within the CPE world.
As an African American, same-gender-loving, queer woman, their identity informs their CPE supervision ministry and consciously creates a learning environment free of racism, sexism, homophobia and transphobia.
Looking to the future, it is clear that the next generation will be instrumental in shaping the world we live in. And they will do so with creativity, innovation and dedication from the paths previous generations paved. Rev. Dr. Buhuro shares their advice for the next generation of women in social justice ministry.
Social justice ministry can be taxing on one’s mental health. In addition to addressing issues such as systemic racism, poverty, sexism, and homophobia, there’s an emotional labor of being an ally. That’s why Rev. Dr. Buhuro advocates seeking professional counseling and therapy. Hear more to Rev. Dr. Buhuro’s emphasis on the necessity to take care of oneself - both spiritually and mentally.
